Bowls club fundraising doesn’t have to mean another raffle. If you need a new idea to boost club funds, here are five that work, starting with one we can help you set up this week.
1. Sell bowls accessories from behind the bar.
Why not add chalk sprays, measures and grip to your bar stock? Members always need them, often just before a match! Even when they do remember to buy them, they’ll go online or to a shop like ours.
Although the bowls majors (Taylor Bowls, Drakes Pride, Henselite etc) won’t supply you directly if you don’t have a shop, they don’t mind if you buy from us and sell from behind your club bar. We supply what you need, you set the price, and the profit goes straight into club funds.
The best sellers are small, low-cost items that every bowler uses: spray chalk, measures and bowls grip.
We will supply you with what you need, and you’ll be able to add the profits to your club funds. Call Jerry on 07973 890368 to organise a starter pack for your club.
2. Club shirts and team kit
Members like to look the part, and their club shirt builds identity. Order club and county clothing in your colours, add a small margin on each shirt, and the club earns on every order while members get proper kit.
3. Open days and taster sessions
A “come and try bowls” day brings in new faces, bar takings and, with luck, new members, which is the best fundraising of all. Have a few sets of second-hand bowls in different sizes ready for visitors to borrow.
4. Sponsored rinks and competitions
Local businesses will often sponsor a rink, a scoreboard or a club competition for a season in return for a sign and a mention. It’s regular income for very little work.
5. Hire out the green and clubhouse
Corporate bowls evenings, birthday parties and community groups can fill quiet midweek slots. Protect the green with rink protection mats and insist on flat shoes.
