You can’t start too soon! In my role as a Hertfordshire junior coach I have children as young as five coming along to our Saturday morning coaching sessions. Children’s bowls, also called Junior bowls, are designed to get them playing and having fun.
We coach them both in age-groups, and also together with juniors of all ages in different sessions and exercises. The enjoyment is palpable, not just the kids but the parents and grandparents who bring them every week.
In fact the participation of the parents, grandparents and carers is often the key to the young bowlers’ enjoyment, as they see how much pleasure they provoke in the adults.
Because the adults and carers aren’t just taxis dropping off kids in order to get a couple of child-free hours on a Saturday morning. Every one of them, without exception, stays at the club and spectates at the coaching sessions as if they were watching an entertaining club game.
So if you have children, or grandchildren, get some of these bowls into their hands as soon as possible, so they get used to playing around with them in the garden long before they set foot on a rink.

Taylor Ace Junior
£180.00Taylor Ace Junior series bowls are ideal for small hands. Depending on their hand size, these bowls can be used on the bowling green by children as young as five or six. They are designed exactly like adult bowls and perform with bias and weight similar to the Ace model.
