The Crown refers to the area at the upper back of the skull. The Crown begins at the point where the top of the head begins to curve downward to the back of the head and ends at the point just above the Occipital bone.
Maybe that’s why the hump-backed lawns on which Crown Green bowls are played are called Crown Greens. Why they are so shaped is more of a mystery. Even Wikipaedia doesn’t try and explain it.
